Market Overview

West Michigan is home to well-known corporations such as: Amway, Bissell, Pfizer, Stryker, Steelcase, Herman Miller, Bell's Brewery, Meijer and Kellogg's. West Michigan boasts one of the most diverse manufacturing regions in the state with over 141,315 manufacturing jobs and 2,452 manufacturers.

Primarily made up of the cities of grand Rapids, Holland, Kalamazoo, and Muskegon, West Michigan experienced roughly a 4% growth in population from 2013 to 2018, with Grand Rapids leading much of that growth as its population surpassed 200,000 residents in 2018.

Manufacturing, information, technology, life sciences, aerospace and defense, and the food processing industries are the main driver of growth in West Michigan.

Entertainment

More than 1.5 million people take advantage of sporting events and live performances every year. West Michigan offers a variety of landscapes which allows for a greater sense of adventure. Lake Michigan has 18 world-class beaches and 288 miles of bike trails.

Skilled Workforce

Out of 1.5 million residents that live in West Michigan, half are under the age of 35. This is a great opportunity for both employers and college graduates. With the high supply of skilled workers and high demand for jobs, it is easy to understand why West Michigan is experiencing such a strong economy.

Arts & Culture

West Michigan is known for their arts and culture. Aside from many museums, the city hosts ArtPrize - a unique, open art competition that gives away the world's largest art prize. Other attractions include Fredrick Meijer Gardens,  Windmill Island Gardens, USS Silversides Submarine, John Ball Zoo, and a must see in West Michigan is all of the unique shops if Saugatuck.
